Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 1841-1919, was a French artist who was a leading painter of Impressionism. As one of the leaders of the Impressionist style, Pierre-Auguste Renoir was an influential French painter that was inspired by Camille Pissarro and Edouard Manet. In 1874 it was Renoir and several other artists that came together for the first Impressionist exhibition. Recognizable Renoir works are The Swing, Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette, Two Sisters, Girls at the Piano and Girl Braiding Her Hair. One of the most popular Renoir paintings Bal du moulin de la Galette sold for over 78 million dollars.
